BGSD Invitational Tournament
2011 Home Run Derby

On a day where homers were scarce, Luke Adkins utilized his two-homer finals outburst at just the right time. The contestants for this competition were split up between the two fields at Richmond Heights, with the top two (or three in the case of a tie) from each field moving on to the finals. Of the 21 candidates, only 7 hit at least one home run. Akaniao Kozemewski had the most outstanding showing of the day by hitting the only impressive first-round total of 6. However, he must have run out of juice because he failed to hit any homers in the finals. Luke Adkins, qualifying for the finals by hitting only 1 home run on Field #2, hit the magical number of 2 in the finals, taking place on Field #1. Previous BGSD Home Run Derby Champions, Monte Taylor (2006) and Aaron Krieger (2009) also homered in the finals, but could not muster up more than 1. Tournament MVP, Terry Clark, was held homerless in the finals, like Kozemewski. For his victory, Adkins received a trophy and the $100 prize.

2011 Golden Arm Contest

Rich Ranells avenged his runner-up finish in last year's Golden Arm contest with a thorough beating of his talented competition in the year's. Ranells, who often displays his powerful arm when playing his shortstop position in short left field, threw two 10-point tosses in the first round. As the second-last contestant, Joe Wurstner had consistent tosses, three of which went through some portion of the target. His one 10-point shot and two 3-pointers gave him the edge he needed to make it to the finals. In the finals, however, Ranells was too strong, hitting another 10-pointer, and 19 total. Wurstner gave a valiant effort with a 13-point final round, but it was not enough. Ranells' total of 45 matched the score of last year's winner, Mike Elliot. For his victory, Ranells received a trophy and $70.

2011 "Mike Lemponen Fastest Man" Contest

The first competition of the day did not disappoint. There was much anticipation to see if Mike Lemponen would three-peat as the Fastest Man. Home Run Derby Champion of 2009, Aaron Krieger looked to add to his resume, and ran a solid time of 12.03. However, first-time contestant Nell Gee, who ran an astounding 10.90, quickly demolished Krieger’s time. Gee's bullet-like motion around the bases put a significant doubt in the minds of Lemponen fans. However, Mike Lemponen did what he does best: win Fastest Man competitions. Lemponen pulled the rabbit out of the hat once again by running a 10.78 around the bases! Lemponen has yet to feel defeat in this competition. For his win, Lemponen received a trophy, $50, and continued naming rights for next year's contest.
| Player | Time |
| Mike Lemponen | 10.78 |
| Nell Gee | 10.90 |
| Jim Funk | 11.41 |
| Aaron Krieger | 12.03 |
