How to Play Corhhole

Cornhole is a simple game that anyone can learn to play in minutes.
Cornhole Boards
- Place boards on a flat surface 27 feet apart (front to front).
- The Cornhole board dimensions on the surface should be 2'x4'
- The Cornhole goal is a 6" diameter hole, centered 9" from the back of the board and 12" from either side.
- Cornhole boards from Benander Games/Sports Data come painted with a "home plate" target near the top (pictured).
Cornhole Bags
- There are eight bags, with four of each color.
- The Cornhole bags are 6" x 6" and have 1 pound of corn/material inside.
Playing the Game
- Choose randomly which player/team starts. Players must stand level with or behind the front of their cornhole board and alternate tosses toward the other board.
- Stepping in front of the board is a foul and the throw is voided.
- When both players have tossed all their cornhole bags, points are tallied.
Benander Games/Sports Data Cornhole Scoring System
- 3 points earned for a cornhole bag that goes through the hole.
- 2 points earned for a cornhole bag that is lying completely inside
the "home plate" area.
- A cornhole bag that is hanging on the edge of the board or on the edge of the hole scores two points as long as no part of the bag is touching the board outside the painted "home plate".
- 1 point for a cornhole bag anywhere else on the board.
- 1 point is awarded if the bag is hanging off the edge but not touching the ground.
- 0 points for a cornhole bag that is on the board, but also touching the ground.
- 0 points for a cornhole bag that is hanging off the edge of the board and is also resting on a cornhole bag that is on the ground. If you can remove the bag on the ground without the bag on the board falling off or touching the ground, then 1 point is given.
Tally the Points
- Bags only score points for their final resting place at the end
of the round. If a bag is in a scoring position but is knocked off or
into another scoring position, the bag's final position is what counts.
- Example: If a bag was tossed onto the board in the 2-point zone, and then gets knocked through the hole by another bag, 3 points are awarded. Similarly if a bag is on the board and gets knocked off, no points are awarded for that bag.
- The team with the highest score in the round earns the difference
between their score for the round and their opponent's score for the
round.
- Example: In the first round, Team A tossed 1 bag into the hole (3 points) and one bag onto the board (1 point) . Team B tossed 1 bag onto the home plate area (2 points). All other bags missed or were knocked off the board. Team A won the round 4-2, so they add 2 points to their score for the game and lead 2-0.
- If both teams score the same number of points, the round is a draw.
Subesequent Rounds and Winning the Game
- The player/team that won the previous round tosses first in the next round. If the previous round was a draw, then the last team to win a round tosses first.
- The first team to reach 21 points exactly wins the game.
- If a team finishes a round with more than 21 points, the team is
penalized the difference between their score and 21.
- Example: Team A leads Team B 20-16. Team A tosses a bag through the hole (3 points). Team B misses the rest of their throws on purpose, giving Team A 3 points for the round, and 23 total. Since Team A is 2 points above 21, their new score is 19 (21 minus 2).
