Reliving of Instant Classic Win by Top Team, Nerone & Sons

Top-ranked BGSD team, Nerone & Sons, defeated league rival, Spectators/Balla (8), by a score of 41-40 in the Mayfield Village Men's Div. A Championship on August 25 in "instant classic" fashion! The extra-inning slugfest nearly lasted a full 2 hours and required two scoresheets. Manager Ricky Nerone came up with key 2-out hits in the bottom of the 7th and 8th to tie the game and win the game, respectively. Brett Kereky scored an impressive 8 runs for Spectators in the losing effort. Nerone & Sons finished the season with a near perfect 28-1 record. Congrats to both teams on an amazing season and an entertaining game!

Last night, the Lake County Captains hosted the 2011 BGSD Awards Ceremony! On the field before the game, four players and three teams were presented with plaques in honor of their tremendous seasons!

A new Power Players Poll has been created! This poll includes six candidates from six different leagues, and all stats accumulated for this poll were postseason stats. The candidates for this poll are: Kevin McPeek, Ryan Martin, Allen Dina, Anne Dubovec, Jim Rinehart, and Jason Washburn. Vote for your favorite postseason MVP!

East Side Hockey League Looking for Goalie

The East Side Hockey League resumes play in September and is looking for a goalie for its 2011 Fall-Winter season. The ESHL is a 6-team non-checking, recreational hockey league, now entering it's 10th season. Full stats are provided by Benander Games/Sports Data. Games are played at Thornton Park Ice Arena in Shaker Heights on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (approximately one game a week). The season is 23 games plus playoffs. 1.5.11 Lake County Captains Come Aboard in 2011! BGSD proudly names the Lake County Captains as its newest sponsor! The Captains have agreed to sponsor the players of the week for all softball leagues for the entire 2011 summer season. This sponsorship awards the players of the week two free tickets to a Captains home game. Not to be forgotten, teammates of the player of the week can purchase Captains' tickets at a 30% discounted rate. Additionally, the Captains will host a BGSD Awards Night on August 31 at Classic Park, home of the Captains. 10.12.09 New for Basketball 2009: League MVP Race! One of our most popular features for softball is unquestionably the League MVP race. BGSD's top secret formula calculates the top offensive performers in the league and ranks them throughout the season, with the top player getting coveted bragging rights. This year, we are excited to announce that we have added the MVP race to all our basketball leagues. Quite a lot of work was put into developing a formula to rate and rank the players in each league, and we hope you enjoy this new feature. The first basketball leagues are underway, you can see the formula in action on the pages for the Cleveland Heights Men's and Women's Winter basketball leagues.
9.14.09 Hockey! Hockey! Hockey! BGSD is excited to announce the addition of the East Side Hockey League to our lineup. The adult recreational league plays its games at Thornton Park Arena in Shaker Heights on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday nights, and is the first hockey league to use BGSD's stats since the BGSD.com website was launched.
